Cynthia started her long running career in the industry by moving from New York to pursue a career as a fashion model. After signing a contract lasting 5 years with the company, she managed to get a successful start as the cover model of Essence Magazine. The first cover on Essence one of the highest-selling cover designs in the history of the magazine, it was also a personal favorite of then editor-in-chief Susan Taylor. Cynthia got her second cover soon after and this was the beginning of the lucrative career she would pursue. She then moved towards Paris and Milan where she was seen walking the runways at Paris Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week. After living abroad for almost a an entire year Cynthia returned to New York City and was highly sought-after for advertising campaigns in Maybelline, Oil of Olay and Macy's. Editorials in magazines included for Vogue, Glamour, Elle, Essence and Vanity Fair soon followed. Cynthia's professional career was further boosted after being selected ahead of Naomi Campbell for the co-starring part in "Without You", I'm nothing" opposite Sandra Bernhadt.
